The second issue of the deepin bi-weekly technical progress is fresh out of the oven. What progress has each deepin group made in the past two weeks? What are we planning for the next two weeks? Let's take a look together!

DDE (deepin Desktop Environment)

The defect repair for deepin 23 and the demand development for deepin 25 are advancing steadily. The specific progress and plans are as follows:

Progress:

  • Fixed several defects existing in the deepin 23 version;
  • Special rectification of the Application Manager (AM) to solve various issues with taskbar application grouping/inaccurate icons;
  • Redesign of some modules for the deepin 25 Control Center, as well as adjustments to some launcher and taskbar requirements;
  • Migrating the launcher to a pure DDE Shell plugin (in progress), to solve the problem of incorrect launcher position in multi-screen scenarios, and to facilitate the complete separation and replacement of launcher components when necessary.

Plans:

  • Continue with design transformations and demand development related to deepin 25;
  • Continue to repair defects existing in the deepin 23 version;
  • Continue with AM special rectification and migration related to DDE Shell.

 

System Development

Progress:

  • Updated approximately 190+ software packages, resolving some software package compilation failures and dependency issues. Details can be viewed at here;
  • The list of security vulnerability updates is as follows:

Plans:

  • Update software packages;
  • Update CVE security vulnerabilities.

 

TreeLand

Progress:

  • Completed support for multi-user XWayland;
  • The screen recording protocol (wlr-screencopy-unstable-v1.xml) has been essentially implemented.

Plans:

  • Provide Treeland adaptation for xdg-desktop-portal.

Kernel

Progress:

  • Began to promote standard kernel support for RISC-V, initially planning to support the Sunway SG2042;
  • The kernel code baseline has been updated to 6.6.52;
  • Added support for the n500, n210 network cards from Muchuang Integrated Circuits;
  • Fixed the issue of incorrect return value checks in the temperature monitoring driver for the Hai Guang platform.

Plans:

  • In the next two weeks, plan to test and deliver the 6.11 kernel, which includes most patches from the 6.6 community kernel.
