Academician Ni Guangnan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering has stated that the RISC-V architecture, due to its openness and flexibility, has become one of the most popular choices in China’s CPU field and is expected to be a key driving force in the development of next-generation information technology. Currently, the deepin community has established close ties with the RISC-V ecosystem, successfully migrating deepin's self-developed applications to the RISC-V architecture and achieving significant milestones.

deepin 23 has successfully achieved compatibility and optimization for multiple RISC-V architecture chips, including but not limited to SiFive FU740, StarFive JH7100, StarFive JH7110, ESWIN EIC7700, SpacemiT K1, SOPHON SG2042, and T-head TH1520. This undoubtedly injects new vitality into the flourishing development of the RISC-V ecosystem and provides developers and users with a broader range of options.

In June of this year, the deepin community officially joined the Jiachen Project, committing to the establishment of an open standard system and an open-source software stack based on RISC-V by the next Jiachen year (2036, Year of the Dragon). The goal is to achieve comprehensive coverage from data centers to desktop offices, from mobile wearables to intelligent IoT, ensuring that the RISC-V hardware and software ecosystem reaches the maturity required to be a mainstream instruction set architecture.

As the highest-ranked internationally among Linux distributions developed in China, deepin has been committed to providing extensive hardware support for its users. Since February 2022, deepin has started its adaptation work for the RISC-V architecture and has successfully supported mainstream CPU architectures including x86, ARM, LoongArch, and RISC-V. In terms of the RISC-V hardware ecosystem, deepin has completed adaptation collaborations with several leading board manufacturers, further broadening its supported hardware range.

deepin has successfully supported a wide range of mainstream RISC-V hardware and development boards, including but not limited to the Hifive Unmatched, SpacemiT MUSE™ Box, StarFive VisionFive 1, VisionFive 2, MilkV Mars by Milk-V, ESWIN EIC7700X, LicheePi 4A by Sipeed, and the DC ROMA laptop, as well as the Xuantie 1520 by Alibaba DAMO Academy. This demonstrates deepin’s strong capabilities in cross-platform compatibility and ecosystem expansion.

On the software front, deepin has completed the adaptation of the RISC-V open-source software ecosystem, providing more than 27,000 software packages. deepin's self-developed applications, such as Movie, Music, Image Viewer, Device Manager, and deepin-IDE, have all been adapted and now include GPU driver solutions for RISC-V development boards, ensuring that most RISC-V boards can operate their GPUs properly. These achievements not only enrich the software choices for RISC-V users but also lay a solid foundation for the prosperity of the RISC-V ecosystem.

As a leader in open-source desktop operating system innovation, deepin remains committed to exploring and advancing the compatibility and development of the RISC-V architecture. Looking ahead, deepin will continue to deepen its cooperation with the RISC-V ecosystem, continuously expanding its support for RISC-V hardware and enhancing system compatibility and performance. The deepin team will actively maintain close communication with the RISC-V community, hardware manufacturers, and developers to jointly promote the prosperity and development of the RISC-V ecosystem.

Finally, I have good news to share: the official release of deepin 23 is scheduled for August 15th. Stay tuned for more exciting features and innovative AI applications!
