Today, the deepin Community announced its formal entry into the RISC-V Prosperity 2036 initiative, dedicated to establishing an open standard system and open-source software stack based on RISC-V that spans the entire information industry, from data centers to desktop office applications, and from mobile wearables to smart IoT, by the next Bingchen year (the Year of the Dragon, 2036). This effort aims to achieve the maturity in the RISC-V hardware and software ecosystem required for it to be recognized as a mainstream instruction set architecture.
The deepin Community, established in 2008, has profound experience in the development of computer operating systems and is one of the largest and most active open-source operating system communities globally. It is also the first root community for desktop operating systems in China. As the highest-ranked domestic operating system in the current international Linux distribution rankings, deepin has been committed to providing users with broader hardware support. Since initiating RISC-V adaptation in February 2022, deepin has now successfully supported various mainstream CPU architectures such as x86, ARM, LoongArch, and RISC-V, and has completed adaptation cooperation with multiple board manufacturers in the RISC-V hardware ecosystem.
deepin Fully Constructs the RISC-V Ecosystem
deepin supports a majority of mainstream RISC-V hardware and development boards, including but not limited to:
- Hifive unmatched
- SpacemiT MUSE™ Box
- VisionFive 1
- VisionFive 2
- MilkV Mars
- LicheePi 4A
- DC ROMA Laptop and Alibaba's DAMO Academy XuanTie Yeyng 1520
On the software front, deepin has adapted to the RISC-V open-source software ecosystem, offering more than 27,000+ software packages. The vast majority of deepin's self-developed software has been adapted, including the movie player, music player, image viewer, device manager, deepin-IDE, etc., providing GPU driver solutions for RISC-V development boards, ensuring the operation of most RISC-V development board GPUs.
In addition, after rigorous adaptation and testing by the deepin team, the DDE desktop environment runs well, not only are basic system modules, wired networks, USB interfaces, and other foundational components usable, but it also supports HDMI output and the display of graphical interfaces. deepin will continue to provide software updates and performance optimizations to ensure users have the best experience.
In the face of the rapid development of RISC-V, deepin is fully advancing in all aspects of its work. We will also improve the underlying support, further enhance stability, build the application ecosystem, and actively explore technological aspects.
By joining the RISC-V Prosperity 2036 initiative, the deepin Community will rely on its own technical accumulation and R&D strength to actively communicate and cooperate with RISC-V hardware and software vendors to build a complete ecosystem and continue to promote the prosperity and development of the RISC-V ecosystem. We believe that with the comprehensive advancement of the RISC-V Prosperity 2036 initiative, RISC-V will gain widespread application and recognition in the near future.
The latest version of deepin for RISC-V can be downloaded and used from the community's official website: https://www.deepin.org/en/download/
We look forward to more interested friends joining the deepin-ports SIG group to discuss more about RISC-V and contribute to the development of the deepin & RISC-V ecosystem.

RISC-V Prosperity 2036
The RISC-V Prosperity 2036 was born on the eve of 2024, initiated jointly by several domestic RISC-V software and chip teams, and has already attracted dozens of domestic and foreign companies engaged in RISC-V product and software development to join. We believe that the RISC-V ecosystem is entering the initial stage of an unprecedented explosive growth: in 2025, RISC-V may welcome an estimated more than 1 million RISC-V application developers, and at the same time, RISC-V will enter the TOP500 of the world's supercomputers in 2025 and is expected to enter the TOP10 by 2030. We are in a golden age of computer architecture and basic software systems, where the open instruction set architecture brings a multitude of new scientific issues and engineering challenges.
