1、deepin 25 Preview Release

The deepin 25 Preview version was released on January 17, 2025. With its brand-new Solid (deepin Inmutable System), Treeland environment, DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment), Distrobox subsystem, and many significant updates, it has garnered widespread attention and enthusiastic response both domestically and internationally.

High Attention from Tech Media: Numerous well-known domestic tech media outlets, such as IT Home, Fast Technology, and Pacific Computer, have covered the release of deepin 25 Preview. These reports not only introduced the innovative features and characteristics of this version in detail but also provided in-depth analysis of its technical highlights, sparking widespread interest among tech enthusiasts and general users.

Community Discussion

Warm Community Response: Following the release of deepin 25 Preview, community members have actively downloaded and experienced it, sharing their thoughts on the new version's features and improvements on the deepin forum and Depth Home. These include:

  • The installation requires the redrawing of a 500MB EFI partition and cannot share the EFI partition with Windows or deepin 23;
  • Issues with installing deepin 25 on VirtualBox and KVM virtual machines;
  • Some applications installed cause the deepin 25 system to be unable to update or upgrade;
  • Display efficiency and icon clarity issues under Treeland mode.

The community has provided a wealth of valuable feedback, too numerous to list here. The official team is still sorting through it to facilitate subsequent version iterations and optimizations for deepin 25.

2、deepin 23

Update for January 2025: deepin 23 was updated four times this month, with numerous functional updates and security updates to continuously improve system user experience and security.

3、Deepin Home

In January 2025, Depth Home received a total of 204 user bug and feature feedback: among them, there were 56 feature requests, with 3 completed and 1 accepted.

 

deepin Community SIG Progress

deepin-ports SIG:

  • The deepin-ports SIG page has been updated and launched, providing an integrated image download page, with future plans to offer installation guides and technical blog shares.
  • Some RISC-V device images have been updated.
  • RISC-V architecture now has available ISO images supporting the full QEMU installation and boot process.
  • Preliminary preview images for devices such as th1520/jh7110 are provided.
  • The new deepin-ports-profiles package has been added to standardize pre-installed drivers and configurations from manufacturers.

deepin-sysdev-team:

  • CVE security vulnerability updates.
  • Completion of emacs and its related dependencies.
  • Updated evince to version 45.0-1, and updated poppler to 22.12.0.
  • Updated latex2html and its related dependencies.
  • Updated the series of network-manager plugins.
  • Updated the liburing library, updated sdparm, updated the perl library.
  • Synchronized upstream updates for liblol and liblol-dkms.

DDE SIG:

  • Resolved potential issues with menu blur and menu focus.
  • Preliminary implementation of window splitting functionality in the taskbar area.
  • Fixed bugs in the network, personalization, and default programs modules of the QML control center, and completed the deepin ID module.
  • Resolved the startup issue of the fcitx service in Treeland.
  • Added polkit to dde-api-proxy.

dde-port SIG:

  • Updated DDE-related package versions for the Arch Linux distribution.
  • Provided transplantation guide for DDE included with deepin 25 Preview.

deepin-kernel SIG:

  • Updated the dual-line kernel to 6.6.71 (HWE) and 6.12.9 (Rolling).
  • Fixed the issue where Intel AX211/BE200/BE201 (BlazarU) Bluetooth modules could not be used under the 6.6 kernel.
  • Enabled NVMe temperature monitoring functionality.
  • Enabled PSI, RCU_BOOST, RCU_LAZY, and NO_HZ_FULL features for the AArch64 platform, which can improve responsiveness and energy efficiency in certain scenarios.

 

deepin Community Ecosystem

In January, the app store completed over 300 app review tests, launched 198 apps, including 130 new apps and 68 app updates and upgrades.

Members of the App Store Ecosystem Co-construction Group have completed the listing of several Linyaps games, greatly enriching the community's entertainment scenarios;

In terms of key app updates, GIMP for image processing, QQ, VLC media player, and Feishu have all undergone minor version iterations to further enhance the user experience.

deepin Forum

In January, the deepin forum saw a total of 6,435 posts, with 709 new topics; 467 new friends joined the deepin forum.

1、The deepin 25 Preview Sparks Global User Discussions

In January 2025, following the release of the deepin 25 Preview, it has sparked a wave of enthusiasm in the overseas community, earning high praise from numerous international media outlets and users. Review videos by tech YouTubers have attracted a large number of users to engage in discussions and try out the experience.

2、The Community Translation Group Continues to Grow and Strengthen

Developers worldwide are actively joining the community translation group, continuously promoting multi-language support and feature optimization. In January alone, 15 new translators were added, bringing the current total number of translators to over 1,360, covering 109 languages, further expanding deepin's international influence.
