1、Major Upgrade of deepin IDE: New Features such as smart terminals have been added

In November 2024, deepin IDE received a major upgrade. This update focused on the following features:

Inline chat function: users can select a function to ask questions, supporting intelligent editing and quick Q&A.
Codebase feature: quickly understand the functionality of unfamiliar code projects and locate specific features in the project.
Intelligent Q&A function in the terminal: enables users to perform intelligent queries, such as weather inquiries.

2、deepin 23 Product Updates and User Feedback

deepin 23 Updates: In November 2024, three beta updates were released, introducing 20 new features and fixing 29 issues.

DeepinHome: In November 2024, DeepinHome received 186 bug reports and feature requests, including 169 bug reports and 67 feature requests. Fixed 3 bugs and confirmed 27 system bugs. Fixed issues include: [Error when running ll-cli migrate after Linyaps update] and [Two icons for Nutstore after installation from App Store].

deepin Community International Influence

1、The 9th Overseas Community of deepin: Saudi Arabia Site Officially Established！

With the steady progress of deepin community's internationalization, deepin's 9th overseas branch community—Saudi Arabia site—is officially established. This marks an important step in expanding deepin's influence on the Arabian Peninsula and lays a solid foundation for its global journey.

2、deepin Ecuador Site Completes the First Edition of deepin Insight Magazine Translation

In November 2024, the deepin Ecuador branch completed the first edition of deepin Insight Magazine. This milestone reflects the deepin community's progress in globalization.

The magazine provides a platform for global users to understand deepin's operating system and community developments, covering the latest technologies, user stories, and open-source culture.

The Ecuador team's professionalism and enthusiasm ensured the magazine was presented in the local language, strengthening deepin's presence in Ecuador and South America.

deepin Community SIG Progress in November

Current SIG Updates:

1. deepin-ports SIG:

Updated Golang to v1.22.6 to ensure architecture compatibility.
RISC-V branch updated Chromium and packaged multiple Electron versions.
Box64 integrated into deepin mainline and validated on arm64 and riscv64 platforms.

2. deepin LoongArch SIG:

Upgraded glibc, gcc-12, and binutils.
Initiated kernel v6.12 upgrade, adding support for Loongson 3c6000.

3. DDE SIG:

Adapted clipboard, uninstallation service, and tray loader components to Qt 6.8.
Advanced Treeland adaptation for taskbar components.
Developed QML control center modules for accounts, network, personalization, and keyboards; other modules under optimization.
Qt 6.8 adaptation support has been completed for clipboard, DDE conversation component, DDE Polkit component, and peripheral services
In the development of the QML version control center's update, display, notification and other modules, the personalized module is adapted to Treeland
Fixed notification adjustments, taskbar icon recognition, and other issues.

4. dde-port SIG:

Fully supported Qt 6.8 in Arch Linux repository DDE and switched to dde-shell components.

5. deepin-kernel SIG:

Kernel version upgrade：

i. Kernel updated to v6.6.60; 6.6 branch updated to v6.6.62.

Hardware compatibility repair：

i. Fixed the issue of the Xiaomi Book Pro 14 2022 built-in microphone malfunctioning；

ii. Fix the issue of ASUS ZenBook S 2024 OLED touchpad not working；

iii. Fixed issues with the Lenovo ThinkBook 14+2024/2024 AI Yuan Start Edition pressure-sensitive touchpad that cannot be used, as well as the possibility of accidental power failure when closing and pressing the Fn-F5 key combination；

Driver update:

i. Upstream Intel QAT driver for the round.

ii. Upstream Intel IAA compression accelerator driver.

iii. Fix the issue where the PMU name of Intel's next-generation Xeon Granite Rapids (GNR) is the same as that of the fourth and fifth generation Xeon (SPR and EMR).

Performance optimization:

i. Optimize the network performance of the Realtek network card.

ii. 6.12 The kernel has completed initial adaptation and gradually improved support for Ryzen AI and Lunar Lake mobile devices.

System problem repair:

i. Fixed an issue where x86 architecture application proxy settings may not be effective.

ii. Update firmware packages, add or improve support for a large number of new platform graphics cards, sound cards, and network cards.

iii. Fix the error handling issue of exFAT file system when writing large files through buffer.

Log and stability improvement:

i. Print logs when firmware loading fails.

ii. Added support for displaying driver versions when loading RTW89 kernel modules.

iii. Fixed stability issues of some Bluetooth devices after sleep wake-up.

Architecture specific optimization:

i. To improve performance in the LoongArch architecture kernel, it was found through testing that disabling the ZEROYAL-USED_REG function would result in approximately 5% performance degradation on the LoongArch architecture.

deepin Community Ecology

1、deepin collaborates to launch the 'Open Source Ecological Development Cooperation Initiative'

In the wave of information technology development, open source has become a powerful engine for global innovation, profoundly influencing the development of various industries. Today, we stand at a new historical starting point, shouldering the responsibility of promoting the development of the open source ecosystem. deepin, together with openEuler, OpenAnolis, OpenCloudOS, and openKylin, launched the Open Source Ecosystem Development Cooperation Initiative to promote open-source ecosystem prosperity.

2、App Store November App News: UOS AI Heavy Upgrade

In November, the app store completed nearly 700 app review tests and listed 530 apps, including 417 new apps (including Linyaps and deb) and 113 app updates and upgrades. As of the end of November 2024, the app store has successfully launched over 2400 Linglong apps.

UOS AI has introduced a series of intelligent agents, and the version has been updated to 2.0.0 for user experience. QQ, DingTalk, 360 Security Browser, Youdao Cloud Notes, and others have undergone minor version iterations to further enhance the user experience.

3、The all-new WeChat Linux 4.0 public beta has been launched with great fanfare

In November 2024, WeChat Linux 4.0 public beta was officially launched. The comprehensive refactoring of WeChat Linux 4.0 public beta not only achieved breakthroughs in architecture, but also achieved comprehensive alignment between Windows and Mac versions in terms of functionality. This means that users can enjoy a rich and consistent application experience regardless of which platform they use.

1、Zhang Lei, senior vice general manager and chief technology officer of the deepin community of the World Internet Conference, was interviewed by CCTV's Focus Interview

The 2024 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province. The theme of this conference is "Embracing a Human centered, Intelligent and Good Digital Future - Building a Community of Shared Future in Cyberspace Together". President Xi Jinping congratulated the opening video of the summit, stating that "China is willing to work with other countries in the world to seize the historical initiative of the information revolution and jointly build a community of shared future in cyberspace, so that the Internet can better benefit the people and the world".

During the World Internet Conference, Zhang Lei, chairman of the deepin community, pointed out in a focus interview that innovation is our first element, but after innovation, users really use it, and you will find that users need you to be able to do it more safely, so there is still a baseline here.

2、WHLUG（WuHan Linux User Group）

On the afternoon of November 30, 2024, the deepin community, together with the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Open Atom Open Source Club, RustSBI Open Source Community, and Tsinghua University Open Source Operating System Training Camp, held the new offline open source event for WHLUG at the Teaching and Experimental Center of the School of Cybersecurity Space, the main campus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

At the event, more than 50 university students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Nanchang University, as well as local open source enthusiasts in Wuhan, shared and discussed exciting content such as Rust's embedded development, open source experience and insights, and four years of self-learning computer science.

3、deepin Community Debuts at COSCon'24 9th China Open Source Annual Conference

The 9th COSCon'24 China Open Source Annual Conference and Open Source Society 10th Anniversary Carnival was held on November 2-3 at the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone Conference Center. As a community partner of the China Open Source Annual Conference, the Deepin community will make an appearance in the Open Source Marketplace at this conference and bring technical sharing on Treeland related topics.

4、The first university technology salon of Linyaps

On the afternoon of November 16, 2024, with the support of the Open Atom School Source Line Public Welfare Project, deepin Community, and OpenTenBase Community, Linyaps Community successfully entered Tianjin Sino German University of Applied Sciences and held an interactive practical teaching Meetup focusing on open source general education, technology, and community. This event attracted the enthusiastic participation of more than 150 students from Tianjin Sino German University of Applied Sciences, and was shared with more friends who love open source through online live streaming.
