deepin V23 Successfully Adapted to EISWAY Computing EIC7700X

In July 2024, the deepin community announced the successful adaptation of the Eiswell Computing EIC7700X, enabling the stable operation of the RISC-V version of deepin V23. This initiative reaffirms deepin's commitment and strength to the RISC-V ecosystem and opens the door to a new desktop experience for developers and users.

The Eiswell Computing EIC7700X is a powerful RISC-V intelligent computing SoC equipped with a 64-bit chaotic execution RISC-V processor and a self-developed high-efficiency NPU, with a maximum arithmetic power of 19.95 TOPS, up to 39.9 TOPS for the dual Die version, support for full-stack floating-point computation, and full acceleration of generative large models. It supports H.264 and H.265 video codec standards, with powerful audio and video processing capabilities and rich peripheral interfaces, providing high-performance intelligent computing solutions for AI PC, industrial vision and other industries.

 

deepin M1 project update to deepin V23 RC2 version

In July last year, we successfully adapted deepin to Apple M1. In July 2024, with the deepin V23 beta going to RC2 version, it is only natural that the deepin M1 project will be updated as well. In addition, this adaptation work is not only limited to upgrading the system environment version, but also updating some of the underlying system components, optimizing the packaging process of each module of the project and partially adding a timer to build the content once a week so that the developers can have a taste of the first experience.

The updated rootfs is now supported on the latest 14.5 version of Mac mini M1. Additionally, since the package versions of the deepin V23 ARM64 stable repository have been updated enough to be compatible with deepin M1-specific components, there is no longer a need for the aggressive but less stable CI repository to build the system environment. Therefore, after this update, systems for the deepin M1 will be switched to the stable repository.

In July 2024, Deep House received a total of 396 user bug and requirement feedbacks:

Among them, 330 bug feedbacks, 66 demand feedbacks, 25 have been fixed, and 78 system bugs have been confirmed.

The bugs that have been fixed include user feedback such as [Calendar can't be opened], [Virtualbox was automatically uninstalled after the update], [System Monitor zoom display bug] and other issues.

 

SIG Group Progress in July

The deepinSIG group was added in July:

deepin-sscs

Research and promotion of operating system supply chain security, including development and application of application layer software unified identifier, adaptation dependency analysis and optimization management toolchain.

 

Existing group dynamics:

deepin-ports SIG.

  • Upstreaming mesa LLVMpipe ORCJIT.
  • Successfully adapted EISWAY Computing EIC7700X.

deepin LoongArch SIG.

  • Enhanced platform support for 6.6 and 6.9 kernels to advance the LoongArch architecture, combined with vendor guidance and other community experience to address multiple compatibility and stability issues.
  • Combine SIG and upstream community results to provide more deepin first-party software pre-installation support and update frequently used software to the latest version.
  • Collaborate to complete the adaptation of GCC12, LLVM17 and other basic tools, add corresponding optimization, functional reinforcement and start functional verification.
  • Promote the adaptation and packaging of some tools related to kernel development and testing.

deepin-sysdev-team.

  • Collaborate with various SIGs to continuously maintain and update repository packages.

DDE SIG.

  • Continuously update dde-launchpad, dde-shell and surrounding components.
  • Centralized handling of DDE component defects in preparation for subsequent releases.

dde-port SIG.

  • Continuously promote the porting of dde to various distributions.

deepin-kernel SIG.

  • Improve existing hardware support
  • Provide better localized hardware support for deepin kernel.

 

deepin forums

  • There were 10,309 posts in the deepin forum in July;
  • A total of 1241 topic posts were posted;
  • Over 800+ new people joined deepin forum.
